A little behind the 8 ball this week

Where did that expression come from anyway?

I had some very happy knitters and one not so happy knitter. Lois absolutely loved her neck warmer and modeled it for us. The Moving Mud button makes the piece totally come together. Moving Mud makes hand blown glass buttons that are just amazing.

Lois is about halfway through her diagonal scarf in Noro Silk Garden. Every time Lois is about to get bored with a color, a new one comes in, she said she doesn't want to put it down. I can't blame her, I'm just finishing my inside-out scarf in the same color. As soon as I bind-off I'll post a picture. I loved the technique and the yarn.

Diane was not so happy. Her sweater in Rowan Lima was coming out way too big. Her gauge relaxed after her swatch. I ripped it out for her (hiding it under the table) while she swatched with the Crystal Palace Mini Mochi yarn. She's going to make a pair of mittens using magic loop. I had her work a mock-circular gauge and she kept wanting to be done with her swatch before there was anything to measure. Once again I put on my swatch police hat.

The upside to her swatching was that she really was enjoying the Mini Mochi yarn. Mini Mochi is a fingering weight yarn that has awesome variegated colorways and is a pleasure to knit with. There are lots of free patterns available for it at Crystal Palace's website.

Linda was beside her self (another funny expression when you think about it) with her progress over the past 2 weeks. Her Soft and Drapey shrug is just beautiful, knit in Bonsai and Quartz.
What Linda was most proud of was her independent decision while working on the hood for Wallaby #3. She was knitting a garter hood and decided after 1-2" that she didn't like it. She didn't want to take it out and start over so she switched to stockinette and was happy with her new design. Kudos! Onto Wallaby #4 in red. Will there be knitting after the final and 5th Wallaby?

Margarite joined us today, she is knitting Mac & Me pattern #30 "Firm Fitting Fingerless Gloves" in Blue Sky Alpacas sport weight yarn. This was the first time she knit in the round and used dpn, she loved the Lantern Moon dpn she was working with (although would prefer a size larger than #3).
