Skee Ball

Many of my designs originate from questions like, "Can you make something like this?".

My oldest daughter has seen really long infinity scarves knit in bulky yarn "everywhere".  "They are everywhere, Mom", she tells me.

We traded emails with pictures of what she has seen and different stitch patterns ~ garter versus ribbing. 

Then I sent her three color/yarn options.  She wanted tan.  Bless her, she chose the super bulky, Plymouth DeAire on the right.  Sounded pretty easy on my end.  She had me at super bulky yarn.
 
When I described what I was knitting to my friend, Lois, she asked "Do you remember Skee Ball? That's what it reminds me of."

Now we have a name to match the request.

This is very easy to knit with an optional provisional cast on for a seamless infinity scarf.  The pattern includes directions on how to graft stitches in the k2p2 pattern.  Believe me, you will be feeling pretty proud of yourself after grafting in ribbing.  I know I was. 

The length is customizable.  She had a very specific idea in mind of how she wanted to wear it, which dictated the whopping 94" length.  However, with the super bulky yarn, it goes wicked fast.

If knitting a provisional cast on and grafting strikes fear into your heart, fear not.  You can cast on normally, bind off, and seam it.
