What Does it Mean when a Knitter Procrastinates?

I'll tell you, you swatch with other yarns that are calling to you.

I'm on the bind off of the Just Enough Ruffles Scarf. I love it and 600+ stitches is a freakin' lot of stitches to bind off. I get bored easily. And as my friend, Jennifer, said after knitting the same scarf "your hand cramps up".

I'm also just about ready to bind off the Abrazo shawlette. That's 200+ stitches in a lace bind off which takes twice as long as a regular bind off.

Then there are several samples I'm knitting for the store and class prep. And like a kid with a lot of homework that she doesn't feel like doing...

I'm playing with other yarn (feels like I'm cheating on my other projects). I have an idea for a fisherman's rib or brioche rib sweater. There are two yarns I'm considering.
Malabrigo Rios a lovely pure merino super wash in Purple Mystery Colorway Could there be a better name for this color? I don't think so. I cast on with a #6 needle and got going. After about 2" I could see that the way the tonal properties of the yarn play out, that the fisherman's rib might not be the best choice. I love the feel of it though.
Rowan Lima has been a favorite of mine ever since it graced the shelves. I knit the swatch on the bottom with a #6 needle. I showed it to Laura at the shop and she suggested I try a smaller needle. She was absolutely right. I think the Fisherman's rib will knit up nicely in this yarn. It's got a nice lofty feel to it so I don't think it will feel heavy. I do find that my lace addi catches a bit on the chainette of the yarn so I might have to use a regular addi. You might be thinking that the swatches are a little on the small side. Now that I'm happy with the #5 I'm going to knit the swatch a couple more inches to get a more accurate stitch gauge.

Now that I've scratched that itch, I can get back to my "homework".
