The Knitter's Philosophy of Sharing

Sunaina swatched for the Miley Tee by Cheri Christian. She had Silky Wool that didn't have a project. When she saw my Miley Tee, she agreed it was a perfect match.

There was one problem. Swatching determined that she needed a #5 and #3 circulars. Sunaina does not own these needle sizes and wanted to start straight away. I had an extra #5 40" (bizarre, I know). The only way she would except it is if I sold it to her. Sunaina does not borrow. She'll happily lend, just not borrow.

It turned out that Sherry had a #3 needle that she was happy to share. Sunaina just didn't want to do it. I tried in my nurturing fashion to explain that knitters share and to just get over it.

Linda, of course, lent her philosophical voice to the matter. She very seriously explained that sharing creates a bond of trust and friendship. When that didn't work she asked Sunaina to "please not deny us the pleasure of sharing".

So you could say we bullied her into borrowing. Lois suggested we make it a public record on the blog. So there you have it, our group ethic of knitter's philosophy.

Sunaina is nearly finished with the Nashua Hand Knits Square Neck Tee in Daylily yarn. Connecting the yoke was a bit tricky. She's only got a couple of more rows before the bind off and the she can finish it.

Lois worked on her Soft and Drapey Shrug, which is probably nearing completion.

Sorry about the sideways picture. Linda worked a 3 needle bind off and joined the right front to the back. She's psyched to finish the left front.
