It's called a Nuno scarf and is done by applying wet felted pieces onto (into?) a silk scarf. We had a class at Westport Yarns recently and the results were equally exciting.
She checked in with me with regards to her Doris Chan All Shawl. We added 2 extra panels (so there are 10) because she wanted it to be bigger. She's crocheting it in Berroco Origami.
It's kind of a wacky yarn, more of a yarn-netting. You knit into the netting to get the flounce. We decided to do a knitalong for grins and giggles. You're welcome to play along. There is a free pattern link on this page.
Lois shared her progress with her Soft & Drapey shrug knit in Cadiz (peach) and Ritratto. She also spent some time on her red cables sweater.
Margarite is rocking her scarf pattern. She found it too distracting to concentrate during our group meeting and was more successful at home. It's more of a concentrating pattern stitch.
