Knitting Central hosted an amazing evening with Iris Schrier, designer of beautiful luxury yarns by Artyarns. Iris is wearing a new top down cardigan design knit in silk pearl and beaded silk pearl. I love it!
All throughout the store there were baskets overflowing with all the different colors and textures available.
It was a total feast for the eyes and it was a pleasure to feel the different silks, mohair, and cashmere yarns.
Featured all around the store and on Iris, Cynthia, and several customers were fantastic garments knit or crocheted with Artyarns. The shawl below is knit with Silk Pearl and trimmed with Beaded Silk Pearl.
Iris made a presentation of the new yarns and colorways. Exclusive to Knitting Central is Pearl Rhapsody.
Elizabeth and I were seriously considering this sweater. Also knit in Silk Pearl, in the colorway "Prada Black". It's a very subtly shaded black and blue yarn. The sweater trim is knit with a new pearl beaded yarn.
Lynn Wilson showed this magnificent evening bag as well as some of her lovely wraps knit in different combinations of silk, mohair, and cashmere.
Jane Elliott came with "the Big Mac" of bags. A awesome knitting bag that I'm looking forward to making!
She is a remarkable designer. She gave a presentation of her Lady Jane purse, the wrist let version that launched the Big Mac. The Lady Jane purse is knit with one skein of silk pearl.
Jane designed the wrap she's wearing. She taught us a new word, "swip", it means shawl wearer in public (this is in contrast to "closet shawl knitters").
With all the beautiful yarns to see and feel combined with the inspirational projects hanging around, we all walked around with note pads to write down our wish lists. And now I'm going to sit and knit because that's the other effect the evening had on me. It reminded me how much I love to knit and how delightfully endless the creative choices are for yarn and projects.
In the end I zeroed in on (no surprise here) the different shades of purple and my mind wandered to all the different garments I wanted to knit.
