As part of Knitting Central's Jumpstart Holiday Class Series, I taught a class on knitting baby booties. Booties are a wonderful quick knit. In the space of a two hour class, two of the women finished one booty and were quite happy with themselves.
Part of the purpose of the class was also to learn the purpose of short rows, what they do in a knitted piece and how to do them.
There was a lot of great brainstorming (and helpful suggestions) during our class. We pulled out the ribbons and tried them out.
Debra knit her bootie with Nashua Handknits Cilantro. She added an eyelet row to the end of her ribbed cuff. She's going to thread the ribbon through and tie it in the front.
Once I finish my booties and incorporate all the suggested design elements, the pattern will be available.
Mary and I knit with Knit One Crochet Too babyboo in ice pink. We both loved the same ribbon with it.
Sunnie knit her bootie with Zara and was playing with adding a ruffle trim so the booties will match a sweater that will go to the same baby.
Debbie was working on booties in Tahki Sonrisa, a cotton blend yarn with other flags of color running through it. The yarn gave her a little bit of a challenge the beginning; by the end of the class, she was well into the short rows.
