Reaching the finish line.

Eileen finished her Fallen Halo, she knit it all with Artyarns Cashmere Glitter versus alternating between Artyarns Cashmere  and Artyarns Cashmere Glitter. She used color #2272.

Initially Eileen chose Cascade Heritage Solids (Fingering: 75% Merino, 25% Nylon, 437 yards) as the solid color and Berroco Nebula (Fingering: 100% Merino, 416 yards) as the variegated to knit Cameo a shawl she had seen in a Westport Yarns email newsletter.

She changed to from the Heritage Solids to Artyarns Merino Cloud (DK: 80% Merino, 20% Cashmere, 436 yards).

Instead of a picot bind off, she opted for an i-cord bind off. 

The result is stunning. And, Eileen had a shocking revelation.  She did not mind working on the #5 needles with thin (fingering weight) yarn. This from the woman who would (adamantly) not knit on lower than a size #6 needles nor work with thin (fingering) yarn. She is going from the ridiculous (#19 needles) to the sublime (#5's)! 

Eileen is also knitting The Lexington Scarf by Third Piece. She noticed that row 2 has 2 mistakes and she needed to take it back.

I took out the (tight) bind off on Lois' Churchmouse Shoulder Cozy and worked Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off instead.  This is a great bind off for necklines (among other things).

Mary is swatching with Lang Grande (Bulky: 100% Cotton, 68 yards) to knit Bernat Garter Stitch Tank. Since she wants it more open she is actually going up a needle size to #13's . Her #13's were on a poncho. Because she is knitting with her interchangeable needles, she put stoppers on the poncho and will use them for the summer sweater.

Mary finished her customfit sweater!!!! This is a momentous occasion. The crowd is going wild! Well done, Mary!

She shared with us information from the movie Screenagers which illustrates how developing technology intended to make people more sociable actually has the opposite effect making them feel more disconnected:

• bullying starts early
• Disconnected
• No filter
• No exercise

There are some elementary schools that are teaching kids how to avoid becoming addicted to screens.

I added to the discussion the book and now movie, The Circle.

Terri reached the bobble row in her Building Blocks afghan. Survey says, she likes bobbles. I should have kept stats. I think I will now.  Please add a comment as to where you stand on knitting bobbles: yay or NAY.
