Do you carry a spare?

Patti's gauge turned out smaller than pattern for the Easy Folded Poncho; in the pattern the gauge is washed and blocked.  Hers came out smaller. To make up for the difference, we modified the dimensions for the neckline and sewing. In order to figure out how many stitches to pick up for the cowl (given her different gauge) we used the ratio for picking up vertical stitches of 2 out of 3.

Yarn: Misti Alpaca Tonos Pima Silk (DK: 83% Cotton, 17% Silk, 337 yards).

Eleanor's Leftie is almost done. Although she loves the finished product, the black yarn has been a trial.

She washed and blocked her  #409 Cool Hemp Poncho in Rowan Softknit Cotton (Worsted: 92% Cotton, 8% Nylon, 115 yards). She sewed it up during class.  I love the expression on Allison's face.

Calann wanted help measuring the second side of her Rowan Straight Top to see if she was ready to bind off. She was able to bind it off and send it to the finisher.  Can you hear her sigh of relief?

Yarn: Rowan Cotton Luster (Bulky: 55% Cotton, 35% Rayon, 10% Linen).

 Meanwhile, her  #409 Cool Hemp Poncho was off one stitch. After a closer look I saw that there was an mis-stitch in the edge.

Yarn: Blue Heron Rayon Metallic (DK: 88% Rayon, 12% Metallic, 550 yards).

There was a collective gasp from the group in commiseration when Allison realized that she forgot the project she wanted to work on.  Luckily had a spare (her Easy Folded Poncho).

Yarn: Anzula Cricket (DK: 80% Merino, 10% Nylon, 10% Cashmere, 250 yards).

Though some might be bored with the (seemingly) endless stockinette, she loves the flow of a it.

Mary had the same problem as Allison. She realized that she had changed bags and forgot her project. Luckily for her, she had a random project in her bag, block #12 of her  Building Blocks Afghan. This is the toughest block and she's off to a solid start.

Cindy was confused about pattern directions for casting on for the Merino Cloud Gradient Cowl. The yarn is held double in the pattern. You start out with a provisional cast on. She decided to skip that and ultimately sew the cast on and bind off edges together. That being decided, she wasn't sure is she should cast on with the yarn doubled.  The answer was yes.

Yarn: Artyarns Merino Cloud Gradients (Fingering: 80% Merino, 20% Cashmere, 540 yards).

Moral of the story, keep a project in the car. You never know when it will come in handy.  Literally.
