Thumb's Up

Elizabeth started a swatch for a new sweater from the Ella Rae pattern book #9, Julsa.
The yarn is from Nashua Hand knits and is a 100% Super wash Merino called Vignette.
She's made great progress on her Fair isle sweater from a Lopi pattern book. The yarn is Debbie Bliss Cashmerino. If you look closely, you can see the center line where she's going to steek the front to make it a cardigan.
Since Wednesday, Mary knit up to the thumb opening on the "His & Hers Cabled Hat and Fingerless Gloves" by Lynn Wilson Designs. She learned so much from this class with Lynn at Knitting Central. She learned how to work in the round on double pointed needles, knit a cable, and today we worked on the thumb opening. For this, she had to learn how to wrap a stitch. They are great gloves and I have a feeling there are going to be a few recipients of these gloves this holiday season. She's knitting them in Tahki Torino Bulky.

We caught up on the travelling projects Elizabeth and Mary are working on for Ravelry groups they've joined. Elizabeth received the next teddy bear (which was a dog), the dog has gone to Vermont with her husband to ride a chair lift. He has strict care instructions for the teddy bear "dog".

Mary received her next scarf. She told us that there is essentially a "blacklist" for people that don't follow the rules of the club. Yikes!
While we were sitting at Cosi, a little girl sat near us with her family. She told her friend that I was knitting a hat (we later learned that her mother and grandmother knit). She asked me what I was knitting next and before I could answer she rattled off a list of what I could make. She asked me who taught me and when I told her my mother did, she answered that my mother was "good". Then she added that I was "good too". It was very sweet and I love the random compliment!

This is the last Flap Happy Hat I have to knit. I think I've made more of these hats this fall than the time I designed the pattern. It's becoming my signature hat gift.
